Hi! What is your name and what do you do?
Hi! My name is Véronique Kampmann. I have been working at Le Régent International School since 2014. I have various responsibilities in communications, marketing and HR.
Have you always lived in Crans-Montana?
No, I have lived in Crans-Montana for the past 20 years. Before that I worked in the USA for 10 years. I was born in France and went to school and university there. I also spent 4 years in England.
How did you get here?
A family decision to move out of the hustle and bustle of NYC, Paris and London, and raise our children in a safe haven.
What made you stay?
I feel that I belong here. I still marvel every day at the breathtaking views, and I revel in the peacefulness of the surrounding forests. And yet, I don’t feel isolated because Crans-Montana is an Alpine town with all the urban amenities, attractions and infrastructure that I need, without the hassle of a large noisy and polluted city. I feel safe and whole.
Tell us your top three favourite
things about Crans-Montana!
1. The spectacular views. Every morning when I look out the window or drive to school, I am moved by the the majestic beauty of the views all around me. One day my younger son and I went for a walk in the forest and I asked him if he believed in God. He was 11 years old and simply replied: if there is a God he must definitely be in this tree, this bush, this stream...
2. The people. Crans-Montana is a very international resort. I love the sound of many different languages being spoken. It is enriching. Another feature I love about Crans-Montana is the fact that the population fluctuates with the seasons and increases tenfold in summer and winter when all the vacationers arrive. The restaurants, the streets and the shops buzz with laughter of happy families who for years have been coming to Crans-Montana. Then off season, it is quiet and that is nice as well.
3. The community. It is pleasing to know so many people and say hello to them when eating out, going shopping or for a stroll. It is heartwarming and makes your day suffused with grace.
